EDUCATION Teacher fired over veil


A teacher from the University of Paris, who threatened to stop presenting a lesson in the presence of a veiled student, was relieved of his duties.

The incident took place on Monday. The teacher has been lecturing at the university since 1986, and on that particular day, he lectured on in insurance law for fifteen students in Master 2 Business Law. Among them, sitting in the front row, was a veiled student. Noticing the presence of veiled student, he expresses his hostility "in the wearing of religious symbols in public space" without attacking the student directly, but he simply stopped the lecture.
