Drug trafficking: possible exchange of prisoners

Australia spoke on Thursday about the possibility of a prisoner exchange with Indonesia in a final attempt to avoid the imminent execution of two of its nationals sentenced to death for drug trafficking. Early in the morning, Prime Minister Tony Abbott attended a candlelight vigil in front of the Parliament House in Canberra to ask the Indonesian president to have "mercy" on Andrew Chan and MyuranSukumaran. They were convicted in 2006 of leading a network of heroin traffickers between the two countries.
