Sonatrach trial finally starts

The Sonatrachtrial started on Sunday in the Algiers criminal court which adjourned torule on a request made by the defence attorney to postpone the trial. Nineteen people, including Mohamed Meziane, former CEO of the public oil group, his two sons, eight of his deputies and a boss of a subsidiary of a German company Contal Algeria Funkwerk, are facing corruption charges. Four foreign companies are also prosecuted for fraudulently obtaining public contracts at the expense of Sonatrach.
