Venezuelan President Nicolas Madurowon special powers of the National Assemblyon Sunday, which will allow him to rule by decree until the end of the year in security and defence. Supported by public opinion, Nicolas Maduro asked the National Assembly on Tuesday for "sufficient powers to defend peace, sovereignty and development of Venezuela against the threat of the US government," which he described as "historical aberration." "Aggression and the threat of the United States are the most serious that has ever suffered Venezuela," added the president.
