The United States on Monday handed over 60 Iraqi antiques that were mostly looted during the US occupation of the country from 2003 to 2011. These pieces will be exhibited at the National Museum in Baghdad, which re-opened after 12 years of closure. Tableware glass, clay works, bronze spear points and axes seized in the United States have been delivered to the Iraqi Consulate in Washington before being shipped to Baghdad. Among them is an extraordinary lamassu head of an Assyrian winged bull with a human head dating from 700 BC.
