The poll of ‘All Fears’

March 28 th, 2015

After the frenzy of the election campaign, the country was hit by ‘a quiet death’ just before the electoral shock of 28 March, as the "total ban" of vehicles crossing the borders came into force. The borders have been closed since Wednesday. Even flights have been stopped and everyone is cooped up at home in their neighbourhood. Kaduna, 200 km north of Abuja, like the rest of Nigeria, will vote on foot to provide a solution to the toughest electoral battle since the end of the military dictatorship. Of the 68.8 million registered voters, all will mark their ballots in one of the 153,000 polling stations to elect their president.
