The 1982 conflict between Argentina and the United States resultedin 900 casualties, mainly soldiers. Argentina has complained to international organisations, including the UN, about the strengthening of the British military presence in the Falklands. The islands have been cause of disputes between the two countries, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Argentina. In a statement given to the United Nations and the G77 + China group, Buenos Aires believes the British armed forces “creates unnecessary and unwarranted tension in the South Atlantic, an area characterized by its peaceful purposes, free of nuclear weapons ".
