Will Japan join the Asian Investment Bank?

Japan denied on Tuesday information about its intent to join the future Asian Investment Bank for infrastructure (AIIB). The creation of this new institution, which will be headquartered in Beijing and includes 20 founding members, was launched by China in October 2013. With an initial capital of 50 billion, the AIIB aims to meet the growing needs for infrastructure (transport, dams, ports, etc.) in the Asian region. AIIB with be independent from the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), two organisations controlled by Westerners, who hold the key voting shares and key positions.
