Recognition not part of Iranian nuclear agreement

US President Barack Obama felt Monday that asking Iran to recognise the State of Israel in the context of the emerging agreement on its nuclear program would be a "fundamental error of judgment." Following the announcement of the interim agreement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu demanded that any final agreement includes "clear and unambiguous" recognition by the Islamic Republic's right to existence of Israel. Barack Obama has launched a political offensive to convince Congress to give him a free hand.
