Caracas Mayor formally charged with conspiracy

Venezuelan mayor, Antonio Ledezma (59) has been formally charged with conspiracy.  The mayor of Caracas has been jailed since 19 February by the President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro, who alleges that Ledezma wanted to overthrow him. "The prosecution accuses Antonio Ledezma Diaz, mayor of the city of Caracas, for his alleged support for groups who wanted to destabilize the country through violent actions," said the prosecutor. The prosecutor in Caracas, José Luis Orta, accused the audiles of "conspiracy offences and association" for a plot, asking for his imprisonment.
