April 11 th, 2015
The Grand Mufti of Egypt confirmed Saturday the death sentence of 14 Muslim Brotherhood leaders, including their supreme guide, Mohamed Badie. The sentence was delivered in March by the court of Giza, southwest of Cairo. Twelve of them are behind bars and two others were sentenced in absentia. They are accused of "planning to use force against the state" and sentenced for "inciting chaos and violence." The opinion of the mufti religious authority is mandatory for each death sentence, although it is not binding on the court.
