Dictator Omar al-Bashir may be re-elected

He has been reigning supreme in Sudan for 25 years and has plans to continue. Omar Hassan Ahmad Al-Bashir, the military-Islamist dictator indicted by the International Criminal Court for "genocide" in Darfur, is guaranteed to be re-elected to the presidency. As in 2010, most opposition parties boycotted the 13 April elections and found 15 other candidates represents a serious competition. "Dialogue was bypassed, some groups were excluded and civic and political rights were violated," according to the European Union, saying that no "credible and legitimate outcome" would come out of the polls.
