Buhari's party president retains control of Lagos

The Progressive Congress (APC) Nigerian President,MuhammaduBuhari,gained control of the strategic Lagos State by winning the governor, the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) announced on Sunday. AkinwumiAmbode of the PCA, got 811,994 votes against the 659,788 votes of his opponent Jimi Agbaje. Agbaje is of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan, according to results announced on television by the representative of the INEC. Mr. Agbaje conceded defeat in a message on Twitter: “I just called AkinwumiAmbode to congratulate [him on] his victory. I wish him the best and I pray that he will successfully guidethis state.”
