Muhammadu Buhari consolidates his victory in local elections

Nigeria - The party of newly elected president, Muhammadu Buhari, consolidated his supremacy in the country by winning the majority of states in local elections held on 11 and 12 April. APC (All Progressives Congress) controls at least 21 seats, according to the results of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) made available Monday, and could win others in states where the vote count has not beencompleted. The PDP incumbent, former President Goodluck Jonathan, reigned supreme since the end of military dictatorships in 1999 with the majority of the 36 states of the federation.
