Eighteen Afghan soldiers were killed Friday during a Taliban attack in the north-east. Eight of them were beheaded. "Ten soldiers were injured and ten others are still missing," said a spokesman of the authorities of the remote province of Badakhshan. An operation to try to find the missing soldiers was launched. The Taliban, which tend to exaggerate the balance sheets of their attacks, claimed responsibility for the attack in Badakhshan. They claimed to have killed 40 soldiers. Local authorities for their part claimed to have killed twenty insurgents, including foreign jihadists.
