Green power will generate 800 jobs

Pretoria – The Minister of Energy, Tina Joemat-Pertterssen, has aimed for an additional 6 300 MW of renewable energy to be procured, on top of the existing 5 243 MW REIPPP programme process.  The Department approved 13 new renewable independent power producer bids. The 79 IPP projects will provide the necessary electricity. SA’s local factories will benefit from the big boost of wind energy projects of 676 MW. Meanwhile, 415 MW has been produced by solar PV projects, 25 MW tby biomass and 5W by hydropower. The total wind farms investment of between R4.5bn and R10bn, and perhaps much more in the next 20 years, is estimated to create 800 jobs during the construction phas
