The Chairperson of the Somali community board has advised foreign nationals to stay away from townships at the moment because tensions could erupt again.

Soweto has experienced violence after a teenager was shot dead when he tried to loot a foreigner’s store. Residents then looted shops resulting in five more deaths. Four Somalis charged with murder will appear court in Pretoria. NGOs in Soweto, the Africa Diaspora Forum, Soweto Electricity Crisis Committee and the United Front discussed the attack on Saturday. South Africa should have lasting solution according to civil society. DA said unemployment and poverty were the cause but the ANC has failed to honour its promise for job creation. The government called on SA to be patient.
