In comparison with other world wine producers, the SA wine industry is very healthy, strong globally and competitive, despite worldwide economic downturn. The latest report on the South African macro-economic figured a massive growth in wine exports which has played an important role in the industry’s performance. Bulk export has reached 66% of the volume sold in 2013, an increase of 400 million litres over 15 years. The industry is a big job creator for the nation, and has contributed R36 billion to the economy, 1.2% of the national GDP.
