EDUCATION/New school infrastructure

Free State - Government and private sector in Kroonstad in the Free Statehave partnered for basic improvement of schools. New classrooms, proper ablution facilities andpainted buildings are part of the new infrastructure.

Learners from NthaPrimary School expressed positive feelings about the clean classrooms and environment. Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa said focus must be on the foundation phase where learning really starts. He believes the best foundation in life is a good education. School principals said that academic results are going to improve because of the program which will focus two on districts in the province. Kagiso Trust and Shanduka Foundation have each committed R100 million over the five next years while the provincial Department of Education has set aside R400 million for the project.
