Cape Town - South Africa falls short in providing the necessary spectrum to meet the growing appetite for mobile data in the country.

Mobile data users have increasedexponentially. Unless and additional spectrum is made available for mobile broadband, mobile networks will cripple under strain, according to director of Spectrum at the GSMA. In SA, it’s a battleground for operators to face-off with regulators. Political will can unblock the 800Mhz spectrum frequency for the country to have a digital migration process. The Minister of Telecommunication promised that SA would have definitive policy on 4G spectrum by March 2015. The ANC has called to make digital TV migration available as soon as possible.
