the sector remains critical for the provincial economic growth. Gauteng Premier said that the regions had suffered industrial decline over past few years. A strategy has been implemented by provincial government to re-industrialise, transform and modernise the sector. Gauteng car production accounts for an estimated 42% of all vehicle production in South Africa followed by Eastern Cape and KZN. 65% of components and parts are imported overseas. Naacam said that labour stability is crucial for the prosperity of the motor industry.
