POLITICS Post-election fear in Lesotho


Johannesburg – Lesotho is staging early parliamentary elections on Saturday to restore orderafter a coup attempt. As pools are hitting, citizens are fearful that the election could provoke instability and violence.

Tension is still high in the capital Maseru since soldiers raided Prime Minister Tom Thabane’s residence and police headquarters five months ago. The exchange of fire between soldiers and the premier’s bodyguards a month ago had killed one person.
