ARMY Martial court drops charges

 

Johannesburg – The charges against soldiers, who partook in an illegal march to the Union Building in Pretoria in August 2009, were struck off the roll by the Military Court in Heidelberg on Tuesday

. Thirty five soldiers were accused of public violence and being absent without permission. The matter was remanded until Wednesday.  The charges against them might be withdrawn by Director Military Prosecutions but could be reinstated at any time. On 26 August, 2009 a thousand soldiers were on strike in Pretoria and clashed with police who used rubber bullets and teargas.
