SA is leading in penis transplant

Cape Town - The effective partnership between academic institution and government health service has given a great achievement. The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Stellenbosch has successfully made the procedure of transplant operation of a human penis. The ground-breaking transplant was dated back on 11 December 2014 at Tygerberg Hospital in Bellville, Cape Town. On Friday the SU announce to perform its world's first penile transplant of nine patients. The procedure benefits people who have penile cancer or have gone through severe erectile dysfunction. Professor Jimmy Volmink, Dean of the SU's FAMHS said "South Africa remains at the forefront of medical progress"
