March 16 th, 2015
Limpopo – The minimum wage for farmworkers will be taken into consideration, following President Jacob Zuma's call about the viability of investigations into the national minimum wage in the country. Through visits to seven provinces, the Parliamentary Committee on Labour also went to Ga-Kgapane in Limpopo and assured farm worker's that their views on farming sector are valuable. The area has been much challenged when it comes to wages. The committee has been aware of the alarming conditions of employment of farmworkers. They earn far less than normal in relation to working hours. The committee will study all farm workers' input to determine the minimum wage across the country.
