Penis transplant is queuing for donors
March 16 th, 2015
Johannesburg - Penis transplants willcontinue as doctors are waiting for willing donors, according to reports by City Press. SA has made medical history yet again for the second time when a 21-year-old man became the first penis transplant patient. The donor was declared brain dead. His penis had to be amputated three years ago after an unsuccessful circumcision during a traditional ceremony. He had undergone a nine-hour operation in December last year at Cape Town's TygerbergHospital. It has been five weeks since the transplant and the patient boasts of good quality erections, ejaculations and frequent sex with his partner. He has been in good health thus far. Professor Andre van der Merwe started the research in 2010 already.
