Five lightning victims laid to rest

Six Transnet employees were killed by lightning more than a week ago close to Botshabelo, Free State. They were hit by lightning while they sought refuge from the storm. Five of the six victims were buried on Saturday. More than five hundred people attended the funeral service held at the Kaizer Sebothelo stadium. According to the Chief Whip of the Mangaung Metro, Zolile Manqcotywan, the victims were still young. “They had their future [ahead] of them. It's a tragedy that they had to pass on this way when their families [and] their loved ones were still expecting a lot from them;" he said.
