Billions saved in fraudulent claims

The government had managed to save over R3 billion in fraudulent social grants claims. The re-registration of social grants has been the means to this achievement. Social Development Minister Bathabile is very pleased with this result as significant gains have been made. “Since our first anti-corruption conference in November 2013, a total of 160 arrests have been made comprising of SASSA officials, CPS officials, beneficiaries and illegal money lenders", he said.
