Adult reptile freed from drain pipe

April 8 th, 2015

Durban – An adult monitor lizard was rescued on Tuesday after being trapped in a pipe at a factor in Prospecton, South Durban. The animal was discovered by factory workers and run away into the drain pipe for a refuge. Factory management had to ask professional reptile handler Shaun Venter to free the angry three-legged lizard. He explained that the reptile tried to escape the threat but ended up inside the pipe and got squeezed inside nearly a metre underground. Venter, after unsuccessfully trying to free the lizard with water pressure, managed to dig down to free the animal.
