Farmers’ grief over slain lambs
April 8 th, 2015
Carolina – Stock thieves killed 10 lambs on an Mpumalanga farm, according to reports on Wednesday. This is a very sad occurrence that will break any farmer’s heart, according to Cobus Botha. Botha is a farmer who runs two farms with his son FJ at Weltevreden and Helpmekaar, between Carolina and Hendrina. The thieves strangled and beat the lambs to death to prevent them from bleating in search of their mothers. The lambs were beaten with pipes. Botha and his son chased the sheep out of the kraal and into the mealie fields when they found nine other sheep bound by the feet. Thieves managed to flee with fifteen sheep.
