Xenophobia continues to hurt foreigners

April 11 th, 2015

Johannesburg – Two Ethiopians were victims of xenophobia on Friday night. The violence against foreign immigrants seems to be beyond control. The men were petrol-bombed in a shop in Umlazi, south of Durban. Police spokesman Tulani Zwane said they suffered severe burn wounds and are being treated in hospital. Since the violence erupted, three people had been killed and 17 arrested.  The situation appears unmanageable although Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini has explained that his comment on foreign nationals “to pack their bags and leave” did not mean they should be attacked.
