SA Road upgrade to reduce death toll
April 13 th, 2015
Pretoria - The plan for the Moloto Road corridor upgrade is now underway. The department for transport and the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa are working with the National Treasury to make the project a success. Early government figures are estimates at R20b for rapid rail service, R10b for rail stock and R1.8b for the roads that have many lives. A further R2.7b will be assigned to upgrade roads along Moloto Road. With the high number of fatal accidents on the road, the department decided to start this upgrade project. Negotiation with the National Treasury has been confirmed for a 124km rail line between Pretoria and along Moloto Road.
