Load shedding

Pretoria - Eskom moved to stage 3 load shedding amid a maintenance backlog. Load shedding began on Sunday and continued until Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. Stage 1 and stage 2 were preceded due to unplanned maintenance caused by technical failure. Supply system remains weak due to shortage of generation capacity. Power cuts were implemented to protect the power system and load shedding schedules will be updated with additional changes. Today’s supply is estimated at 30 165 MW, including open cycle gas turbines, while demand is forecasted at 29 428 MW. Tomorrow’s peak demand will be 30 165 MW while supply is forecast at 29 692 MW. On Monday, peak demand is estimated at 29 985 MW while supply is forecasted at 32 004 MW
