Gigaba claims ‘violence under control’

Pretoria – Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba held a media briefing on Sunday. He said government has made efforts to prevent violence towards foreigners in KZN and Gauteng. Security measures are enough to stabilise the situation. President Jacob Zuma cancelled his trip to the Africa-Asia summit on Saturday to monitor ongoing attacks on foreign nationals. Zuma visited displaced foreigners in Chatworth on Saturday and gave the government’s support. A message of peace and tolerance was given. A warning against public violence has been aired, stating that authorities will find the perpetrators and apply the full might of the law.
