SA, with 80% of the world rhino population, is still in the grip of rhino poaching. Four men were sentenced on Wednesday to five years in prison each for rhino poaching in the famous Kruger National Park. The penalty will warn anyone from committing similar infractions, according to Judge Andre Gedenhuys. The four suspected men live in a village close to the park. They were found guilty of illegal entry into the park, illegal hunting and illegal possession of weapons and ammunition. Twenty rhino horns were seized during their arrest. In SA, 215 animals were killed with more than two thirds of them in 2014, an increase of 21% compared to the previous year in the Kruger National Park alone.
