May 20 th, 2015
Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma urged South Africans on Monday to celebrate Africa Day on 25 May. The apartheid colonialism had isolated the country for decades and now all have been full members of the African continent since 1994, according to Zuma. Zuma will preside at Africa Day celebrations on 24 May in Mamelodi in Pretoria. Africa Day commenced on the formation of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) on 25 May, 1963. Henceforth, the continent has advanced democracy, peace, stability and socioeconomic development. The event celebrates SA’s twenty-first reintegration into the OAU, the African Union (AU) and the international community. SA supports the AU Agenda 2063. It aims for peace, post-conflict reconstruction and development efforts of the continent.
