SA’s nuclear tender

South Africa - The construction bid for the new SA nuclear reactors will be launched between July and September. France, the United States, Russia, China and South Korea are mainly competing to win the mega-contract of R526bn. South Africa will select the supplier countries of its new nuclear reactors by the end of 2015, according to Energy Minister Tina Joemat-Petterson on Tuesday at the Parliament. Since 2000 SA has undertaken to buy six to eight new reactors of 9600 MW. This venture drew attention of western countries, including China and South Korea. They have signed preliminary agreements.
