Lesufi claims dual language system
June 1 st, 2015
Pretoria – The Gauteng Department of Education wants to pursue the case against the conversion of single-medium schools to parallel medium until it arrives at the Constitutional Court. MEC Panyaza Lesufi said on Wednesday in Pretoria that the department should revise schools’ admission and language policies for 2016. The Federation of Governing Bodies of SA Schools (Fedsas) made an urgent application to stop the admission process and the department’s plan to convert single-medium schools to parallel-medium schools. According to Lesufi, Fedsas mislead the court about language rights which are protected in the Constitution.
