Pretoria battle over street names continues
June 3 rd, 2015
Pretoria – The City of Tshwane has apparently ‘tried to frustrate the process of the court’ by refusing to display old street names together with the new ones. The city maintains its stance that it gave all stakeholders a reasonable opportunity to lodge objections, according to Executive Mayor Kgosientso Ramokgopa. According to Judge Prinsloo, there was ‘very little indication that stakeholders were consulted when the city decided on the name changes and that the city hastily removed the old names, even though the legal battle was pending’, according to local reports. The city will again approach the Supreme Court of Appeal, according to mayoral spokesperson Blessing Manale.
