SA to host AU Summit

Pretoria — SA will host the 25th Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) from Sunday. The theme is the “Year of Women’s Empowerment and Development towards Africa’s Agenda 2063”. The occasion will officially start with the 30th Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Pretoria. The PRC will discuss the agenda in preparation for the 25th AU Summit. The AU Summit is scheduled to take place on June 14 and 15 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, AU Chair Dr. Nkosazan Dlamini Zuma, SA President Jacob Zuma, UN General Secretary Ban Ki Moon and Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas will present the welcome session.
