SA, Nigeria ‘betrayed Africa’

Johannesburg - Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe blasted SA and Nigeria for contributing to the fall of former Libyan leader, Muammar Kadhafi. In 2011, the two largest economies of Africa signed the resolution of the UN Security Council to approve military action against the Libyan leader. The AU chairman described it as a ‘betrayal of Africa’. Mugabe told the summit that Africa would never allow the two countries to get permanent seats on the council because they had ‘disappointed the trust of the continent’. An agreement was discussed on the African position within the UN Security Council reform.
