Fugitive lion now hunts livestock

June 19 th, 2015

The rangers of the Karoo National Park have still not managed to capture a lion that escaped from the Park two weeks ago. They’ve tried to lure it with carcass of antelope and have tracked the lion for fifteen hours a day, using a hunting-call device that normally attracts lions. Park spokespersonFayroushLudick said rangers have built traps to lure and bring the lion back to the park but it has been in vain. Instead, the lion has killed fifteen sheep on various occasions without eating them. Nearby residents are warned as the 3-yearoold lion has started hunting in the area. The lion previously escaped the park through a hole in a fence damaged by heavy rains.
