Beware of rent scam

Pretoria - A fake landlord had defrauded four tertiary students searching for accommodation at a block of flats in Arcadia. Pearl Mohale, Neo Sathekge, Kgomotso Khanye, and Ndumiso Yendi contacted the fraudster following his advert on the Internet. The conman known as ‘Alfred’ required a R5,500 deposit before he would hand over the flat keys. He then disappeared once the collective payment was done. The angry students were shocked after they found the real owner of flats. A case of fraud had been opened and the investigation continues. An awareness campaign has been launched.
