Malaria workshop held in SA
June 25 th, 2015
A malaria workshop will be held at the University of Pretoria on June 29 and 30. The course is organised by Faculty of Health Sciences, the French Embassy in Pretoria, CNES, Earth Observation Applications, Toulouse, France and the CNRS/IRD office in Pretoria. The meeting is as part of the international scientific conference “Our common future under climate change”. The event will be an opportunity for researchers from different sectors such as health, environment and remote sensing to discuss conditions for setting up joint research projects for malaria surveillance by satellite. More than 10% of South Africans are exposed to this parasitic disease transmitted by the Anopheles-type mosquitoes. Climate change has increased the epidemic risks.
