Pretoria - The renowned Pretoria entrepreneur and inventor, Dr. Dirk Koekemoer has taken a step forward to help people suffering from the most common chronic disability: hearing loss. The KUDUwave 5000 device is a pair of large white headphones and one of its many advantages is its portability. The SA Department of Health has purchased 140 units for primary healthcare facilities across the country. The main target is patients using TB medication as they are more susceptible to hearing loss. Audiologists can test up to 30 to 40 patients a day, at around R15 only per test, with the new device.
