Joint law-enforcement drug bust

Cape Town – Three suspects, between 20 and 40, were arrested in Cape Town. They were caught with a consignment of mandrax tablets on Sunday around 11pm. The arrest was a joint operation between the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) and Crime Intelligence, with the extensive assistance of the Paarl K9 Unit and Forensics Department. The units seized in large quantities of drugs found in hidden compartments of the suspects’ cars, including 117,000 madrax tablets estimated at R5.2m, 10,000 ecstasy tablets estimated at R500, 000 and an undisclosed amount of cash. The Acting DPCI head was proud to say the arrest demonstrates the power of joint law-enforcement efforts.
