Over 200,000 Zimbabweans apply for permits

Johannesburg – Thousands of Zimbabwean nationals will continue staying in SA after completing the renewal of their Zimbabwean Special Permits (ZSP). Department of Home Affairs received 208,967 online applications via VFS Global and 2,028 applicants have not yet booked an appointment. The deadline is 31 March. Zimbabwean nationals in possession of the old DZP permits were still allowed to be in the country even though the expiration date was on 31 December last year. The ZSP permit allows nationals to live, work, conduct business, study and financially transact in SA until date of expiration on 31 December, 2017.
