COSATU criticises electricity price increases
March 23 rd, 2015
Eskom’s proposed electricity price increase has been criticised by the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu), an increase which will be effective from 1 April. The increases were approved by the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) in November last year. Cosatu spokesperson, Patrick Craven, said Eskom should not shift its crisis on consumers who are already facing increases in fuel levy and other taxes. He added its impact will be devastating and might have a negative effect on the economy.
