Tony Elumelu and his thousand African entrepreneurs

The Tony Elumelu Foundation released Monday the names of the first thousand entrepreneurs selected for its annual program of African entrepreneurship. Launched in December 2014, the Tony Elumu Foundation Entrepreneurship program provides $100 million over ten years to finance and support 10,000 African start-ups. Nigerian Tony Elumelu, ranked twenty-sixth on the African fortune list, owes its success to the banking sector, and hopes to "support the economic and social transformation of Africa and intensify job creation" on the continent.
