Hewitt released on bail ahead of sentencing

Former Wimbledon doubles champion, Bob Hewitt, was found guilty on Monday on two counts of rape and one of sexual assault. According to Judge Bert Bam, Hewitt’s conduct was “calculated and carried out with shrewdness”. Hewitt was accused of kissing, inappropriately touching and raping two of his students when they were children. The third plaintiff testified that Hewitt rubbed himself against her. Hewitt is out on R10,000 bail ahead of his sentencing next month. Hewitt might face life in prison.
